Understand that we are all sinners.
Romans 3:23 says this: “For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” No matter how “good” we think we are and try to live, it will never be good enough on its own and by our own abilities. That is because we all have sinned and fall short of the glory that God requires in our life. The Bible says, “No one is good—not even one.” We cannot become who we are supposed to be without Jesus Christ.
Understand that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins.
Romans 6:23 says tells us this: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The end result, the payout for the sin in our life is death. Physically and Spiritually being separated from God. But that God gave us a gift in Jesus to forgive us of our sins and make us what we would call “good” or what God would call “righteous.”
The Bible also tells us that “God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while were still sinners.” This is the Good News, for all of us, that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place when we least deserved it. That is why it is a gift and by His grace we are saved.
Repent of your sins.
The Bible tells us, “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” The word repent means to change our direction in life. Instead of running from God, we can run toward Him. He will receive us with open arms. He wants to refresh you and renew a right relationship between you and Him.
Receive Jesus Christ into your life.
Becoming a Christian is not merely believing some creed or going to church. It is having Christ Himself take residence in your life and heart. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in . . .” If you would like to have a relationship with Christ, have a new refreshed life with Him, simply pray this prayer and mean it in your heart.
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. I believe You died on the cross for those sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and ask you come into my heart and life as my personal Lord and Savior. I accept and profess you as both Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
